SARAJEVO, July 11 (Xinhua)-- The 22nd anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre was marked on Tuesday in Srebrenica, a city some 130 kilometers northeast of Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) capital Sarajevo, with a solemn ceremony and a funeral for 71 newly-identified victims.

Several thousand of the mourners arrived at Potocari Memorial Center near Srebrenica on Tuesday after having trekked across the country on a three-day peace march.

Bakir Izetbegovic, Member of the BiH Presidency, stressed at the commemoration that reconciliation cannot be achieved without justice and truth.

Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, the head of the EU delegation to BiH, called for reconciliation and building a better future for all citizens of BiH at the commemoration.

"Such a future requires continued dialogue, courage and determination. It would require difficult but necessary reconciliation," said Wigemark.

Srebrenica, located in eastern BiH, was a UN-protected Muslim enclave when it was overrun on July 11, 1995 by Bosnian Serb forces. Some 7,000 Muslim men and boys were killed in Srebrenica by Bosnian Serb forces in the following several days.

So far, 6,504 victims were buried at the Memorial Center in Potocari. After Tuesday's collective funeral, there will be a total of 6,575 identified and buried victims, reported Fena, the Federal News Agency.
