LONDON, July 5 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.14 percent, or 10.37 points, to close at 7,367.60 points.
Tesco, a British multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer, soared 3.80 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Provident Financial and Barratt Developments increased by 3.49 percent and 2.74 percent, respectively.
The payment processing company Worldpay Group was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 8.82 percent. Old Mutual, an international investment and banking group, dropped 1.74 percent. The major British bank Barclays fell 1.33 percent. Enditem
