30 arrested in drug trafficking investigation: Europol

BRUSSELS, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Thirty suspects were arrested in an investigation targeting a criminal group involved in international drug trafficking, the European Police Office (Europol) said Wednesday.

Over 330 police officers from Germany, Italy, and Spain took part in the investigation, supported by Europol.

A total of 35 houses were searched and assets worth five million euros (5.7 million U.S. dollars) were seized in several European countries.

The investigation revealed the organized crime group were trafficking drugs and laundering the criminal profits by using shell companies and different financial schemes.
