GAZA, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Members of the Hamas-run Administrative Committee headed on Sunday to Egypt for talks with Egyptian officials on security along the Gaza-Egyptian border.

Wael Abu Amro, spokesman of the Rafah crossing, told reporters that the 10-member delegation entered Egypt through the Rafah crossing point at the Gaza-Egyptian border. The Egyptian authorities opened the crossing point especially for them.

Osama Saed, Secretary General of the Governmental Administrative Committee, said in a statement that the delegation included representatives from Ministries of Internal Affairs, Health, Economics and Finance.

He said that the delegation will discuss with Egyptian officials the security status on the border and other issues like electricity, fuel, and ways of implementing understandings recently reached with Egypt.

Four days ago, Gaza Interior Ministry announced the establishment of a security zone on the Gaza-Egyptian border, which is 100 kilometers wide and 12 kilometers long on the Palestinian side, in a bid to boost security in the area.

On June 4, a Hamas delegation headed by Gaza Hamas chief Yahya Al Sunwar and Gaza security chief Tawfiq Abu Naim spent nine days in Egypt for talks with senior Egyptian security officials.

Last week, Egypt allowed the shipment of millions of litters of fuel from Egypt to Gaza to operate the sole power plant that has been forced to close down since the middle of April due to lack of fuel supply.

The Hamas movement has ruled the Gaza Strip since 2007, while the Palestinian National Authority keeps control over the West Bank.
