Tanker, bulk carrier collide in N. France, no injuries reported

PARIS, July 1 (Xinhua) -- A tanker and a bulk carrier collided early on Saturday morning in the strait of Pas-de-Calais, north France, maritime prefecture said.

The tanker, carrying 38,000 tons of hydrocarbons, collided with a 224-meter bulk carrier at 33 kilometers from Dunkerque, according to naval authorities.

There were 27 crew members in the 183-meter tanker while 23 others were reported on board of the bulk carrier, but no injuries have been reported.

"No pollution is noted at this stage," said authorities, adding that "its services follow in real time the evolution of the situation."
