TEHRAN, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Thursday urged the Venezuelan government and the opposition to settle their conflicts through dialogue.

The conflict gripping Venezuela could be best resolved through dialogue without any foreign interference, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said.

"Avoiding violence and turning to dialogue in a calm atmosphere without foreign interference is the best way to resolve rifts and serve the interests of all Venezuelan people," Qasemi was quoted as saying by Press TV.

He pointed to the amicable relations between the Iran and Venezuela and condemned recent attacks on the country's Supreme Court and the Interior Ministry.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that such illegal and violent acts against legal and legitimate bodies and structures not only complicate the situation in the country but toughens the process to reach an agreement through dialogue and negotiation," Qasemi noted.

Since April, a wave of increasingly violent demonstrations in Venezuela has claimed the lives of at least 76 people, according to official figures.
