TBILISI, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Municipal elections in Georgia will be held in late October, 2017, President Giorgi Margvelashvili said Tuesday.
"The upcoming local elections will be conducted at the end of the third week of October. We have collaborated and discussed this topic with the government," the president said in a statement.
"As a result of a joint decision with the government, we have provided political parties with clear information in order for them to prepare for the elections over the next four months," the president said.
The ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party won 115 parliamentary seats in last year's elections.
The upcoming municipal elections is being closely watched in the Caucasus country.
