Norway to assist Macedonia in its EU-NATO integration processes: Norwegian FM

SKOPJE, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Norway is ready to offer its assistance to Macedonia's new government as a sign of its support to Macedonia's aspirations for membership in Euro-­Atlantic organizations.

Such confirmation was made Friday by visiting Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende at a joint press conference in Skopje with Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.

Praising the strong partnership and long historical ties existing between Norway and Macedonia, Brende said that Norway was focused on developing inclusion in Macedonia.

"What can one learn from Norway's history is that 100 years ago we were one of the poorest countries and now we are one of the developed which was enabled by inclusion and democracy," Brende said at joint press conference with Dimitrov.

On the other hand, Brende hoped for efficient cooperation in the Macedonian parliament to achieve the country's goals while he affirmed that Norway was reviewing all possibilities for intensifying the partnership with Macedonia.

On his part, Macedonia's FM Dimitrov presented to Brende priorities of the new government, NATO and EU integration, the area of good neighborly relations, in regard to sphere of strong institutions, rule of law and free media.
