LONDON, June 22 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.11 percent, or 8.50 points, to close at 7,439.29 points.
Shire, a global specialty biopharmaceutical company, soared 3.72 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Provident Financial and ConvaTec Group increased by 3.64 percent and 2.35 percent, respectively.
The major British supermarket chain Wm Morrison Supermarkets was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.70 percent. TUI, a multinational travel and tourism company, dropped 2.17 percent. A British speciality chemicals company Johnson Matthey, fell 2.13 percent. Enditem
