Chinese shares open higher Wednesday

BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks opened higher on Wednesday after the MSCI's decision to include China A-shares into a major index, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.29 percent, at 3,148.99 points.

The smaller Shenzhen Component index opened 0.38 percent higher at 10,327.13 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was up 0.38 percent to open at 1,827.89 points.

Global equity indexes provider MSCI announced Wednesday morning that beginning in June 2018, it will include China A-shares in the MSCI Emerging Markets (EM) Index and the MSCI ACWI (All Country World Index) Index.
