BERLIN, June 12 (Xinhua) -- German Ambassador to Turkey Martin Erdmann will visit journalist Deniz Yucel on Tuesday afternoon, the Federal Foreign Office representative Martin Schaefer announced here on Monday.
The visit was long planned, Schaefer said, adding "now the moment has come."
Yucel is a dual German-Turkish citizen and a journalist form the prominent German newspaper die Welt. He was imprisoned in February on charges of propaganda in support of a terrorist organization and inciting the public to violence, which he has denied.
The appeals from the German federal government to release Yuecel have so far been in vain.
In his speeches, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had described Yucel as a German agent and representative of the Kurdistan Workers' Party blacklisted as a terror group by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
