SKOPJE, June 7 (Xinhua) -- The European Commission welcomed the Macedonian finance ministry's commitment to swiftly draft a strategy for public funds management, the ministry said in a press statement on Wednesday.

This strategy will give high priority to fiscal consolidation and transparency in budget data, ministry explained.

Macedonia's finance ministry representatives received a European Commission delegation led by Ambassador Samuel Zbogar on Wednesday.

Their talks focused on economy issues, future priorities and reforms for Macedonia's European Union (EU) integration and improvements towards the increased use of Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) funds in the country, the Macedonian ministry informed.

According to the press release, the EC officials voiced support for the government's reform priorities aimed at integrating the country into the EU.

"The European Commission continues its support in launching a fresh cycle of the economic reform program, which is one of the leading documents in Macedonia's pre-accession process," said the finance ministry said in its press release.
