JERUSALEM, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Monday that Arab countries' move to sever ties with Qatar is "an opportunity" for Israel to establish collaborations with these countries.
"Severing the ties between the Gulf countries and Qatar opens a path for collaboration," Lieberman said during a session of Q&A in the Knesset (Israeli parliament).
"It is clear for everyone, including Arab countries, that the real danger of the region is the terror," he added.
Earlier on Monday, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Egypt announced their decisions to sever diplomatic relations with Qatar. Libya and Yemen followed with similar announcements.
In a statement carried by its official news agency, Bahrain accused Qatar of supporting terrorism and interfering in Bahrain's internal affairs.
Saudi Arabia's state news agency quoted an official source as saying that the move was to protect national security "from the dangers of terrorism and extremism."
In an official media report, Egypt also accused Qatar of backing terrorist groups.
