TIRANA, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Over 1,900 people have been directly employed in Albania thanks to the construction of the Trans-Adriatic pipeline (TAP), of which more than 80 percent are Albanians, TAPs general director for Albania Shkelqim Bozgo told Wednesday at a meeting with students here.

The experience that they are gaining in training and by applying the highest standards during the construction of TAP will be a great benefit for companies and Albanian professionals, Bozgo stated.

According to him, transferring this experience to local professionals would help expand their knowledge and create employment opportunities across the borders of Albania in similar projects.

Bozgo also invited students to apply for internships in TAP, as it is a rare opportunity to see how such a project is organized

TAP pipeline will carry natural gas from the fields of Shah Deniz II in Azerbaijan to Europe, passing through Turkey, Greece, Albania and ending up in Italy.

The investments carried out by TAP in Albania have made a significant contribution to the country's economy while 2017 is seen as the year where TAP investments will hit the climax.
