PARIS, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The Manchester attacker "probably" traveled to Syria before being radicalized, French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said on Wednesday.

Speaking to French news channel BFMTV, Collomb added that British investigators believed that the suspect in the Manchester suicide bombing was "someone of British nationality, of Libyan origin, who suddenly, after a trip to Libya, then probably to Syria, becomes radicalized and decides to carry out this attack."

"In any case, (he had) links with Daesh (Islamic State) that are proven," he added.

British police identified Manchester concert bomber as Salman Abedi, a 22-year-old British man.

In an attack claimed by the terror group Islamic State (IS), Abedi killed 22 people who were attending a concert of U.S. pop singer Ariana Grande on Monday night.
