ROME, May 24 (Xinhua) -- At least 20 people died after a migrant boat capsized some 30 miles from the Libyan coast, Italy's Coast Guard said Wednesday.
According to Ansa news agency, the boat, heading towards Italy, has around 500 asylum seekers on board.
It capsized and sent some 200 migrants into the waters, sources said.
A search has been launched for those who ended up in the sea, with more drownings feared.
The rescue effort is being coordinated by the Coast Guard in Rome, local media said.
