LJUBLJANA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Both Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar and his visiting Estonian counterpart Juri Ratas called for a strong and united EU here on Tuesday.

The Estonian prime minister said striving for unity will be the priority of the upcoming Estonian EU presidency in the second half of the year, the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported.

The STA also quoted the Slovenian prime minister as saying that both countries support a stronger bloc of EU, faster decision-making and more efficient implementation of decisions to the benefit of all citizens.

Apart from unity and balance within the EU, security and economic prosperity will also be the areas that Estonia will work on during its stint at the helm of the bloc, Cerar said.

Being a leading country in the world in digital governance, Estonia will also devote attention to modernisation of society and digitalisation, an area where Slovenia can also contribute to, according to Cerar.

Touching on the terrorist threat in Europe, Cerar and Ratas again expressed their condolences to the British people, where the attack on Monday in Manchester left at least 22 people killed and more than 50 injured.

Cerar and Ratas also agreed that the Western Balkans should remain a part of the "European family" and that the region must preserve its European perspective.
