TOKYO, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning as a rise in U.S. shares and a jump in oil prices lifted the market mood.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average advanced 58.48 points, or 0.30 percent, from Friday to 19,649.24.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 5.46 points, or 0.35 percent, to 1,565.19.
Iron and steel, insurance and machinery-related stocks comprised those that advanced the most by the morning break.
