ANKARA, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Turkish national weightlifter Daniyar Ismayilov caused a series of traffic accidents on Thursday night in Ankara.

On the way to Esenboga district of north Ankara, Ismayilov's car slammed into a light pole in front of the Altin park, according to state-run Anadolu Agency.

After the first hitting, the Ismayilov's car crossed the street and the broken light pole fell down on the street, closing the traffic to the Esenboga direction.

A few minutes after this accident, another careless car hit the broken light and directly lost its control.

Half an hour after later, the third car who did not notice accident site crashed into Ismayilov's vehicle and made both cars seriously damaged.

Three people injured in the accident were send to hospital by rescue crew.

Ismayilov was born in 1992 in Turkmenistan. He changed to the Turkish nationality in 2014, and won the silver medal in men's 69kg weightlifting class for Turkey in 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
