Two workers die in coal mine accident in Turkey's Antalya

ANKARA, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Two workers died in a coal mine accident on Tuesday evening in the Turkey's southern province of Antalya, the local government announced on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at 7:43 p.m. (GMT1643) on Tuesday and two workers were trapped underground after methane leakage, Antalya governor Munir Karaloglu said.

"We think they died of harmful gas inhalation, but definite results will only be known after an autopsy," he said.

The two bodies, Levent Korkmaz, 39, and Esen Cavus, 35, were found at 830 meters beneath the ground entrance.

Local government has launched an investigation.
