LONDON, May 15 (Xinhua) -- British shares rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.26 percent, or 18.98 points, to close at 7,454.37 points.
Anglo American, a multinational mining company, soared 3.22 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Glencore and Standard Chartered increased by 3.16 percent and 2.86 percent, respectively.
The German travel and tourism company TUI was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 4.79 percent. The British clothing and home products retailer Next dropped 1.86 percent. Direct Line Insurance Group, a British insurance company, fell 1.65 percent. Enditem
