Morocco, France vow to consolidate bilateral partnership

RABAT, May 9 (Xinhua) -- King Mohammed VI of Morocco held on Tuesday a phone conversation with newly-elected French President Emmanuel Macron, the king's office said in a statement.

During the phone call, the Moroccan king reiterated his congratulations to Macron for his election to the highest office, which was marked by broad support to his vision for the future of the French Republic and the well-being of his fellow citizens, the statement said.

It was also an opportunity to highlight the unique nature of relations between the two countries in all fields, as well as the shared will to consolidate and enrich this exceptional partnership, it underlined.

France is Morocco's leading economic partner. Trade with France represents over 15 percent of the total trade turnover of Morocco.
