YANGON, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Water bus service will be launched in Myanmar's Yangon next month as a new transportation system to ease traffic problems, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Saturday.
The service will start running with 16 water buses for eight jetties along the Hlaing River on the second or third week of June, according to the media.
The authority has planned to implement the system, prioritizing safety for the passengers, to reduce the traffic congestion.
The water buses will run from 06:00 a.m to 06:00 p.m. with an interval of 20 minutes. The travel time for each trip will take one and a half hours.
Four types of 50 or 70 vehicles will be needed in service.
