Ningxia speeds up ecological construction in Yellow River irrigation area

BEIJING, April 30 (Xinhuanet) -- An ecological construction program has been recently initiated in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Under the program, forest area will be expanded by around 106 square kilometers by 2020 in a bid to build a better laid-out, functional and beautiful ecosystem in Ningxia’s Yellow River irrigation area.

According to the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region's forestry department, the program is one of the key ecological projects of the region’s 13th five-year plan, and is expected to contribute 0.2 percent to the forestry coverage in the region.
