YANGON, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's total trade value in the first week of current fiscal year 2017-2018 as of April 7 reached 731.913 million U.S. dollars, according to official figures from the Ministry of Commerce of Myanmar Tuesday.

The value increased by 164.64 million dollars or 29 percent as compared with 567.273 million dollars of the same period of the last fiscal year 2016-2017 which ended in March.

During the period, the export value amounted 288.387 million dollars while the import value was 443.526 million dollars.

The total annual trade value of 28.801 billion dollars in the last fiscal year 2016-2017 did not meet the ministry's targeted amount of 31 billion dollars.

Natural gas and agricultural products each took 25 percent of the total export value and stood as the most exported items in last fiscal year.

Although the country earned less from natural gas export in the last fiscal year 2016-2017 than the previous year, the export value from agricultural products rose with 2.931 billion dollars.

In the last fiscal year, the CMP (cutting, making and packaging) garments export, mining products, fishery products and forestry products stood as other mostly exported items.
