THE HAGUE, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Belgian cyclist Philippe Gilbert won the Dutch Classic Amstel Gold Race for the fourth time on Sunday.

The 34-year-old Gilbert beat Polish Sky cyclist Michal Kwiatkowski, who won the AGR in 2015, in a two-men sprint after 261 kilometers from Maastricht to Berg en Terblijt. Michael Albasini from Switzerland (Orica) finished third 10 seconds behind.

Gilbert earlier won the Amstel Gold Race in 2010, 2011 and 2014. Two weeks ago he also won the Belgian Classic Ronde van Vlaanderen. Gilbert became the third rider to win the Ronde van Vlaanderen and the Amstel Gold Race in one year, after Eddy Merckx (1975) and Jan Raas (1979).
