MEXICO CITY, April 10 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed on Monday following the collapse of a parking lot under construction in Mexico City, according to local fire services.
Fausto Lugo, the city's civil protection secretary, said that nine people were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, adding that some workers might still be trapped in the rubble at the site in the southwest part of the capital.
The accident occurred on Monday afternoon owing to a fault in the construction process which led to the cave-in of concrete slabs in the parking lot, according to preliminary reports from local officials.
Rescue work for the trapped is still going on.
