LONDON, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's Oleg Verniaiev and Germany's Tabea Alt took gold medals at the World Cup gymnastics tournament, winning the men's and women's competitions respectively at The O2 Arena here on Saturday.
Alt edged out American Victoria Nguyen having topped the scoring on the floor and uneven bars and there was glory for Britian's Amy Tinkler. The Durham gymnast won Bronze in Rio eight months ago and collected the same medal in front of a packed-out home crowd.
In the men's competition Verniaiev took the title, with the United States taking their second silver of the day through Donnell Whittenburg. Germany's Lukas Dauser took third, staving off the competition from Britain's Sam Oldham whose fantastic finish on the high bar was so close to earning him a medal.
