TIRANA, March 31 (Xinhua) -- A massive fire has broken out in the small village of Vau i Dejes in Shkodra, north of Albania, sweeping over 200 hectares of forest, local media reported Friday.
The fire started Thursday and continued to spread overnight burning massively the forest of Kreshta in this zone.
Official sources from the Albanian ministry of defense informed that military forces have been deployed to this village in order to help the firemen department extinguish the fire.
According to the ministry, the work to extinguish the fire is continuing as the terrain is very difficult and the military couldn't send vehicles or other machineries there.
On the other hand, Shkodra Police have started investigations to identify the causes that led to this huge fire and suspect arson.
