ZHENGZHOU, March 24 (Xinhua) -- At least one people has died and eight are missing after a gold mine accident in central China's Henan Province, local authorities said Friday.
The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. and left 11 workers and six management staff trapped by smoke in Qinling gold mine of China National Gold Group in Lingbao city, according to the local emergency office.
Nine people were lifted out of the mine and sent for treatment, with one dying in hospital. Eight people were still missing as of 8:40 p.m.
Rescue work is ongoing.
