RAMALLAH, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian government and Islamic Hamas movement condemned Wednesday the killing of a Palestinian in south of Gaza by Israeli forces.

Palestinian government spokesperson Tareq Rashmawi said in a press release that the Israeli assaults against Palestinians is "a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law."

Rishmawi called on the international community "to put an end for the continued and systematic Israeli assaults against Palestinians wherever they are and oblige Israel to rules of international law and lift the siege in the Gaza Strip."

The government spokesperson slammed the Israeli military activity and maneuvers in the surrounding in the past days.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of Gaza health ministry, said in a text message sent to reporters that the two casualties, one dead and the other seriously injured, were brought to Abu Yousefal-Najjar Hospital in the town.

Hamas movement spokesperson Hazem Qassim denounced the Israeli shelling and told Xinhua that Israeli killing of civilians "is dangerous."

Witnesses said the two young men approached the borderline area between the eastern part of the town and Israel, trying to cross the fence into Israel, adding that then they heard a huge explosion after a tank fired on them.

The Israeli army has been carrying out on Tuesday and overnight a military training near the borderline between the Gaza Strip and Israel. Firing on the two Palestinian infiltrators coincided with the Israeli army training in the area.
