MACAO, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Macao Special Administrative Region's (SAR) fiscal reserve reached 438.7 billion patacas (about 54.8 billion U.S. dollars) at the end of 2016.
The basic reserves accounted for 132.8 billion patacas (about 16.6 billion U.S. dollars) and the excess reserves took up 305.9 billion patacas (about 38.2 billion U.S. dollars), the SAR's monetary authority said Tuesday.
For the year 2016, the annual investment income for fiscal reserve totaled 3.31 billion patacas, equivalent to an annual return of 0.8 percent. The size of the fiscal reserve grew 27 percent from a year earlier.
Macao's monetary authority said it will invest in a prudent, effective and sturdy way and explore possibilities of cooperation with the Silk Road Fund, China-LAC Industrial Cooperation Investment Fund and China-Africa Fund for Industrial Cooperation.
