YAOUNDE, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The 14th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Cameroon kicked off here Saturday.
Eleven teams which consist of 63 cyclists from 10 countries are participating the 9-day tour of 8 laps.
The tour is organized by Cameroon Cycling Federation under the supervision of International Cycling Union. According to the organizer, the first lap is from Yaounde to Bafia, a town in Central Region of Cameroon, covering a distance of 121 kilometers.
The 10 countries particpating the tour are host Cameroon, Morocco, Rwanda, Cote d'Ivoire, Congo DR, Belgium, France, Holland, Germany and Slovakia. Out of them, Belgium is the first time to participate. Host Cameroon has two teams for the tour, the others have one each.
The total 8 laps run through 5 regions of Cameroon covering a distance a 956.7 kilometers. Last year's champion Morocco team wishes to keep the title this year.
International Cycling Tour of Cameroon started in 2003. This year's tour will finish in Yaounde on March 19.
