Playboy magazine brings nudity back, says removing it a mistake

Source: Xinhua   2017-02-15 17:51:34

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- U.S. lifestyle and entertainment magazine Playboy brought naked women back to its latest issue, ending a year-long ban of nudity that made the magazine famous.

The March-April issue, published on Monday, features photos of playmates Elizabeth Elam and Nina Daniele as well as an interview with U.S. actress Scarlett Johansson.

Cooper Hefner, chief creative officer and the 25-year-old son of magazine founder Hugh Hefner, confirmed the move on his Twitter account, saying the removal of nude photos was "entirely a mistake."

"Nudity was never the problem because nudity isn't a problem," he wrote, "Today we're taking our identity back and reclaiming who we are."

Playboy celebrated the reversal on Twitter and Facebook accounts with the hashtag #NakedIsNormal.

The magazine said in late 2015 that it would stop running nude photos in its pages, claiming the era of printed erotica had ended.

Its first issue without nude photos came out in February 2016.
