BEIJING, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- A mobile app that allows users to pass information on to Beijing police is being field tested.
"Chaoyang Resident HD" was designed to collect information from the public through text, pictures or video clips, according to the Public Security Bureau of Chaoyang District of Beijing, which helped develop the app.
The app focuses on child abduction, suspicious characters, missing elderly people, traffic violations, and lost property.
On Tuesday, a message about a nine-year-old girl who went missing in Fengtai District on Sunday was displayed by the app.
"Chaoyang resident" is a well-known phrase online, often cited as a source by Beijing police in the investigation of celebrities involved in drugs or prostitution who usually live in the city's posh Chaoyang District.
