ALMATY, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian Marina Zuyeva pocketed her second gold of the 28th Winter Universiade and broke the games record in the women's 5000-meter speed skating here on Friday.
Zuyeva dashed to the line in seven minutes 20.11 seconds, beating Sakai Nene of Japan by 15.03 seconds. South Korean Lim Jungsoo finished third in 7:49.09.
Zuyeva won the women's 3000 meters with a narrow lead of on Wednesday. However, the 5,000 meters competition was not tough as Zuyeva led throughout the race and finished with a new record of the Universiade. The previous record as set in 1986 with a time of 7:20.99 by Andrea Erig.
"I am happy with the result. I was preparing for the result that I showed," said Zuyeva, "I and my coach laid the distance and decided that we should run smoothly all the laps."
