WINDHOEK, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- More than 100 delegates from 12 eastern and southern African countries will converge in Namibian capital Windhoek for a meeting on HIV prevention and sexual reproductive health and rights for adolescent girls and young women.

The meeting, to be held from Feb. 1 to 3, will be hosted by the health ministry in partnership with the World Health Organization, UNAIDS, PEPFAR and USAID.

Among those expected to attend are technical experts, advocates, major donors, government officials and representatives of civil society organizations.

Some of the issues the delegates will discuss include elaborate approaches and strategies for how best to reach adolescent girls and young women with HIV prevention in the context of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

A statement issued by the health ministry says that the meeting will build upon key outcomes from several global expert consultations convened by WHO Department of Reproductive Health and Research in 2016.

The statement says that the delegates are expected to come up with a solution on how to support the introduction of comprehensive HIV prevention for adolescent girls and young women at risk.

In addition, the delegation are also expected to identify a package of sexual and reproductive health and rights and HIV interventions that can advance efforts to meet national goals and can be adapted to specific epidemic contexts.
