Tokyo stocks gain in morning on strong Wall St. showing, weak yen

TOKYO, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks gained in the morning session on Friday as the market was underpinned by Wall Street's strong showing overnight and also supported by a weaker yen giving exporters a boost.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 71.76 points, or 0.37 percent, from Thursday to 19,474.15.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, was up 6.08 points, or 0.39 percent, to 1,551.09.

Notable gainers comprised mining, oil and coal product, and rubber product-linked stocks.
