BEIJING, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- China's top court and procuratorate have issued a judicial interpretation, which enables confiscating the illegal gains of corruption and terror-related fugitives.

The interpretation, jointly issued by the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate Thursday, stipulated conditions and procedures for the confiscation of illegal gains in cases where the suspects have been at large for over one year or have died.

According to the rules, under certain conditions prosecutors are allowed to apply for the confiscation of illegal assets of fugitives involved in major crimes such as embezzlement of public funds, bribery, terrorist activities, money laundering and telecom or online fraud.

The interpretation said profits generated from illegal gains are also subject to relevant confiscation rules.
