HONG KONG, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale jolted 60km E of Taron, Papua New Guinea at 10:51:11 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 73.4 km, was initially determined to be at 4.474 degrees south latitude and 153.577 degrees east longitude.
