ACCRA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- A head-on collision between a Yutong bus and a minibus on the Accra-Cape Coast Highway Sunday has claimed the lives of 15 people, local media reported here Monday.
Many others who sustained various degrees of injury have been sent to the nearby Apam Hospital in the Gomoa West District in the Central Region, some 120 km west of Ghanaian capital Accra while the dead have been deposited at the Saltpond Government Hospital morgue.
Reports indicated that all the 15 people killed were from the minibus, which was traveling from Accra to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region when it collided with the Yutong bus traveling in the opposite direction.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident that occurred at Essarkyir junction in the Ekumfi District. Local media reports also said both passenger vehicles were travelling at high speeds.
