WINDHOEK, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's annual inflation rate rose to 6.6 percent during the first 10 months of 2016, the Bank of Namibia said Wednesday.

The main drivers, the bank said in a statement, were price increases in housing, water, electricity, gas, transport and food.

Namibia's annual inflation rate stood at 3.4 percent in 2015, the bank said.

According to the bank, the decline in production of diamonds, zinc, cement and blister copper, as well as financial problems in the construction and transport sectors led to a slow growth of the economy.

The private sector credit extension growth also slowed down from 15.5 percent in 2015 to 11.8 percent in the past 10 months.
