TOKYO, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened lower on Monday amid fears of economic uncertainty in Europe as Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said he will tender resignation after losing a referendum over his proposals for constitutional reforms.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 76.51 points, or 0.42 percent, from Friday to 18,349.57.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 6.93 points, or 0.47 percent, to 1,471.05.

Decliners were led by rubber product, bank and transportation equipment issues.
