RIYADH, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia announced the end of the ceasefire in Yemen on Monday, saying it won't be renewed after 500 violations from rebels, Al Arabiya local news reported.

Major-General Ahmed Al Asiri, the spokesperson of the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, told the news channel that there is no chance to extend the ceasefire as the conditions were not fulfilled.

He said that the militias committed more than 500 violations of the truce, with 80 percent inside Yemen and the rest, or 113, reported in the Saudi border cities.

The coalition declared Saturday a 48-hour ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to besieged areas in Yemen.

The two-day ceasefire that began from 12:00 at noon local time (0900 GMT) would have been automatically renewed if Shiite Houthi fighters and supporters of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh adhered to it.
