31 Indian peacekeepers injured in blast in Congo

NEW DELHI, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- At least 31 Indian peacekeepers have been injured in an explosion in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday, sources said.

"The grenade explosion took place in the city of Goma, killing an eight-year-old girl. The Indian peacekeepers working for the United Nations, who were around, and a civilian also sustained injuries. They have been hospitalised," the sources said.

More than 20,000 United Nations peacekeepers, drawn from over 20 countries, are stationed in Congo, working to disarm rebels as well as to protect civilians.
