TAIPEI, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Tourist operators from nearly all provincial regions on the Chinese mainland showcased their attractions in Taipei on Friday, ambitious to attract more customers from the island.
Some 31 tourism operators from 28 municipalities, provinces and autonomous regions in the mainland set up 282 booths at a cross-Strait travel fair which opened on Friday.
The mainland delegation of about 600 will hold briefings and give performances at the four-day fair to promote their home territories.
Su Qingci, vice chairman of Fujian Tourist Association, said he hoped to have more discussions with his counterparts in Taiwan on how to integrate tourism in Fujian and the island.
In the first nine months of 2016, tourists from Taiwan to Fujian increased 20 percent from a year ago to 1.5 million, he noted.
Delegates from Tibet, Sichuan and other provinces and regions also displayed their historical, cultural and natural attractions at the fair.
Taiwan has become an important source of tourists for the mainland. According to figures provided by the China National Tourism Administration, tourists from Taiwan to the mainland have increased every year since 2013.
