HO CHI MINH CITY, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam' s 2016 national Weightlifting Championship kicked off in central Da Nang city, with the participation of over 120 athletes from 24 cities and provinces nationwide.
Vietnam' s top weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan will not compete at the championship, which lasts till Nov. 1, because he is recovering from an injury, the Da Nang Culture and Sports Department said.
Therefore, two male weightlifters Tran Le Quoc Toan from Da Nang and Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan from Ho Chi Minh City are expected to finish first and second at the event, respectively.
