AMMAN, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Albania on Wednesday called for more efforts among Islamic states to denounce terrorism and extremism, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
The remarks were made during talks in Amman between King Abdullah II of Jordan and visiting Albanian President Bujar Nishani.
The two sides expressed that there was a need for more efforts to counter terrorism and uproot terrorist groups as part of a comprehensive strategy at security and ideological levels.
They added the international community needs to shoulder its responsibilities in efforts to fight terrorism, especially as it has grown into a phenomenon that affects the entire world.
During the meeting, the two sides also reiterated their calls for a political solution to the Syrian crisis so as to end the suffering of the Syrian people.
The Albanian president stressed the key role Jordan plays in attaining Mideast peace, and voiced appreciation for the Arab kingdom's efforts in defending Islam and fighting terrorism.
