TEHRAN, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran lost to Russia 4-3 in the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 semifinals in Medellin, Colombia on Wednesday and failed to qualify for the final.
Iran had entered the semifinal match after beating title-defending Brazil in penalty shootouts last Wednesday, and took out the Paraguayan team 4-3 later on Sunday.
The Iranian squad will play against the losers from the semifinals between Argentina and Portugal in Saturday's third-place match.
The 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup tournament runs from Sept. 10 to Oct. 1.
