TOKYO, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened lower Monday on Wall Street declines before the weekend as well as the stronger yen.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 96.01 points, or 0.57 percent, from Friday to 16,658.01.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 5.97 points, or 0.44 percent, to 1,343.59.
Decliners were led by non ferrous metal, electric appliance and oil and coal product issues.
